The crowd raved for Sting and Shaggy's concert in Piazza del Popolo. A true throwback to the past, the sounds of "Message in a Bottle" and "Mr. Boombastic" were a true throwback. The two singers are taking center stage this summer in Italy, with a series of concerts also in Trani and Cattolica, after Santa Margherita di Pula (CA), Rome, Verona, Naples, and Taormina.
Both as a duo and individually, the audience appreciated their performances, which also included a series of songs from their new reggae-flavored album, 44/876, released on April 20th. The setting of Piazza del Popolo provided a stunning backdrop for the performance, amidst the travertine stone and monuments of the historic center. The audience erupted in excitement during songs like "Every Breath You Take," "Englishman in New York," "It Wasn't Me," and "Angel." The new duo recently released the hit "Don't Make Me Wait," currently in the top 10 of most played songs on Italian radio.
Sting continues on bass while Shaggy warms up the crowd with his reggae tunes and a few medleys, which truly erupt in the crowd. Sting's hits mix with Shaggy's hits, including songs from "44/876," the medleys "Oh Carolina-We'll Be Together," "So Lonely-Strenght," and "Roxanne-Boombastic."
Accompanying the duo is a band consisting of Dominic Miller (guitar), Josh Freese (drums), and Rufus Miller (guitar), along with Shaggy's musicians Monique Musique (backing vocals), Gene Noble (backing vocals), and Kevon Webster (keyboards).
